National Center of Disaster Relief & Emergency Preparedness (NC-DREP)

UNITED SIKHS' National Center of Disaster Relief & Emergency Preparedness offers a variety of trainings and educational opportunities from the field of Disaster Preparedness and Humanitarian Aid.

In addition to developing culturally and linguistically appropriate resources, providing trainings and building partnerships with our local, regional and national partners, the NC-DREP also helps to advance the field of disaster preparedness and humanitarian aid.

Through webinars, trainings, workshops and other methods, we enhance the knowledge and skills of disaster preparedness professionals and humanitarian aid workers and volunteers. Our community outreach & engagement projects, include both in-person trainings and outreach via social media outlets.

The center utilizes the latest science and evidence to develop emergency preparedness educational material and assists in addressing the existing gaps in the emergency preparedness of the minority and underprivileged communities.

Keeping in mind the needs of the Sikh Community and the Gurdwaras in the U.S., we have designed culturally & linguistically appropriate emergency preparedness workshops. Our goal is to assist in making the Sikh Community a more resilient and a more informed community.

The workshops provide vital information to help the Sikh community to be better prepared for emergencies and disasters. We offer a comprehensive “Emergency Preparedness for the Gurdwaras” workshop, which covers the following three topics

  1. What is Emergency Preparedness & Why is it important for our Gurdwaras?
  2. Basic training on Active Shooter Situation.
  3. Emergency Preparedness for the Vulnerable Members of the Sikh Community.

We also provide guidance on how to develop and maintain an Emergency Action Plan for the Gurdwaras. The information and resources offered are based on the guidelines provided by the Department of Homeland Security, National Disaster Interfaiths Network and various Emergency Preparedness Agencies.
