UNITED SIKHS' civil and human rights awareness projects aim to promote an equal and just society through proactive advocacy. We believe that society can avoid or mitigate conflict through awareness that encourages the public and authorities to grant, observe and practise civil and human rights.
UNITED SIKHS conducts negotiations, seminars, exhibitions, training, dialogues, studies and surveys in order to educate, assess and implement measures to promote civil and human rights.
UNITED SIKHS also works with likeminded organizations to achieve the above. We do this by setting up and/or participating in consultative forums to facilitate a dialogue between beneficiaries and governmental and non-governmental organizations at local, national and international levels. UNITED SIKHS are members of the American Sikh Consultative Forum (ASCF) and the British Sikh Consultative Forum BSCF.
The ASCF highlights Sikh issues, interalia, in the field of civil and
human rights, employment, education, law enforcement, and commercial
and public enterprise so that Sikh Americans may enjoy the rights and
bear the responsibilities of being good American citizens.
ASCF uses the following processes to achieve the above -
ASCF looks forward in working with various city agencies in implementing their agendas and looks forward to work with each of the agency officials, assisting them and guiding them to implement our rights for a stronger America. We look forward to work with each of you and setup up individual meetings with each of your groups to see how best the city agencies can assist in implementing their roles effectively.
