Local United Sikh member returns from relief effort in Puerto Rico

WEST CHESTER, Ohio-Some of the most devastated areas in Puerto Rico are just now getting relief help and among one group reaching the most desperate areas is a West Chester man. “You go there, there are power lines still down on the road, rubble is still everywhere,” said Jaipal Singh, who is a disaster coordinator with United Sikhs. “Hurricane Maria wiped out 95 percent of the island.”
WEST CHESTER, Ohio -- United Sikhs is an organization many in the Tri-State may not have heard of, but they're recognized by the U.N. This weekend, they're holding a fundraiser for humanitarian relief after some of their members have returned from hurricane recovery efforts Puerto Rico.
"We must end this senseless violence," said Congressman Ro Khanna, Democrat Congressman from 17th district California. In a statement, UNITED SIKHS condemned the "senseless act" of terror. Its volunteers have teamed with Gurdwaras, where shelter, hot meals (langar) and other assistance is being offered to all who may need it. Sikh taxi drivers are volunteering to drive people to their destinations safely, it said.
Now, Sikhs help victims of Irma

ALANDHAR: After providing aid to the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas where they had sent truckloads of relief material, the US Sikhs are now reaching out to the victims of Hurricane Irma in Florida. United Sikhs, a humanitarian relief and advocacy organization, has set up a base camp in Florida Keys and has been providing emergency supplies besides running langar.
