New Orleans, Lousiana: President Barack Obama has declared federal emergencies for Louisiana and Mississippi as Hurricane Isaac has left hundreds of thousands without power and its path of devastation has left many stranded. UNITED SIKHS Emergency Response Team (US-ERT) encourages everyone in the affected regions to take the necessary precautions and prepare for local flooding as fallen trees and debris are causing property damage and power outages. 17th Aug, 2012, Milwaukee, Wisconsin: The Sikh Community has not yet recovered from the tragic shooting on Aug 5th, 2012 at Oak Creek Gurdwara sahib, when the news of another shooting shattered the community. Dalbir Singh, 56, was shot and killed on Wednesday night while closing his store at north-side neighborhood market in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin: “I lost my only support when I lost my husband. We keep remembering him and crying all day. I do not know how I will live the rest of my life,” these are the touching words of the wife of Seeta Singh, a Sikh who lost his life on August 5th, 2012 in the fatal shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. His family was everything for him.
These anguish filled words mobilized the UNITED SIKHS team to visit their families in India and give them immediate monetary aid to help with their daily expenses. Rs 50,000 each has been given to the families of Bhai Seeta Singh, Bhai Ranjit Singh and Sardar Punjab Singh.
