A day in the eyes of a volunteer team in Haiti-(1)

IT WAS HARD JOURNEY… AFTER STAYING IN SANTO DOMINGO FOR NIGHT ON AIRPORT FLOOR AS THE INCOMING VAN BROKE DOWN.  WE FINALLY REACHED IN HAITI… AS BORDER CROSSING IS ONLY FROM 7 AM TILL 6 PM.
WE ARE AT OUR LANGAR CAMP…. COOKING DELIVERING TRUCK LOADS OF MEALS… …WE WENT OUT TO BUY SOMETHING FROM FAR DISTANCE AND COULD NOT BUY AS A PLATE OF FOOD COSTS $ 19 US.
SLEPT HUNGRY … NEXT DAY THE SAME DAY AND NIGHT WORKING COOKING NOW WE EAT SAME TIME LATER…
HARD HIT DESTROYED AREAS… DOWNTOWN IS TOTALLY DEMOLISHED BIG MALLS, CHURCH AND PRESIDENT PALACE CALLED WHITE HOUSE ALL DAMAGED…
……….
UNITED SIKHS IS DOING A GREAT JOB…  THERE ARE THREE OTHER DOCTORS FROM CHICAGO AND MY WIFE… TWO THERAPISTS….  .  I HAVE HARDLY SEEN MY WIFE.  SHE IS RUNNING FROM ONE HOSPITAL TO ANOTHER MAKE SHIFT SETUP … COMES HOME TO SLEEP FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. 
SHE IS A GREAT HELP AS SHE KNOW THEIR LANGUAGE , SPANISH AND FRENCH….      TODAY SHE IS AT UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI HOSPITAL NEAR AIRPORT HUGE SET UP….        SHORTAGE OF NEUROLOGIST THERE…           ONE DAY I WORKED IN OTHER CAMP WITH HER ..SETTING BEDS, HELPING PATIENTS…. USUALLY I PACK AND DELIVER MEALS… ANDHELP HERE
 
WE WILL BE BACK ON SUNDAY AND BRING LOTS OF PICS….
